Though Grace Community Church has many various activities throughout each week, the Sunday Worship Service is the occasion when we hope everyone can come together at one time. It is a time of special fellowship with God and with one another. The pastors spend much time praying for this service and planning its theme each week. It is desired that the program flow smoothly and congruously from one segment to another. All this is done while mindful of an important truth: what each person needs more than anything else is an authentic encounter with God.
As people arrive to the building, some enjoy having conversations and meeting new people. Others prefer to find a seat in the auditorium and to sit quietly before the start of the service.
The service usually begins with a few announcements. From there, the service offers various opportunities for worship. Worship is to express love, reverence and devotion to God. Specifically, our worship is centered on the idea that God is the creator, ruler, and judge of all and has revealed Himself through His eternal Son, Jesus Christ the Lord. If you have not fully embraced the Christian message, you will not be pressured or feel conspicuous. If you are simply seeking, Grace Community Church is a good, safe place.
Our worship pastor, Pastor Sam, is a talented musician and composer of music. Though he could use his gift in a much larger venue, he believes in Grace Community Church and sees it as his place of calling. He does not want to be the center of focus during the songs; He wants focus to be on God.
Another opportunity for worship is the receiving of the offering. As most churches do, we have "offering plates" that are passed down the various rows of people. Please do not feel any obligation to put money in the plate. There is no expectation that everyone give money every time they come to a service.
Finally, there is a time in which a portion of the Bible is preached. Preaching is a unique form of public speaking. Preaching is the chosen means to communicate Bible truth to large groups of people. There are definite rules for interpreting and proclaiming the Bible to which the preacher must adhere. When that is done, God will open the hearts of the hearers to comprehend and assimilate the truth. But it takes time. If you decide to come on a regular basis, you will likely find that the preaching is affecting you in a positive way.
