The Wednesday meetings are relaxed and informal. We take care that they last only one hour so that those who attend can count on knowing they will be able to get home at a decent hour each week.
We open the floor for anyone to share things that are happening in their lives, and if desired, request prayer. We then usually go ahead and pray for the various issues at that time. Various people who are comfortable praying out loud will voice prayer requests to the Lord. Those who are not speaking can then unite in heart by silently expressing agreement with the prayer so that the Lord may grant help and favor in regard to various needs.
Also in this meeting is a time of Bible discussion. Usually led by Pastor Jon, various Bible truths are taught in an interactive approach. Questions may be asked and comments are always welcome as well. Those who attend never feel any pressure to speak up, as some people are not comfortable speaking in a group. Yet, each can benefit from the discussions.
That said, spontaneity is always a goal for the Wednesday evening services and sometimes there is a complete departure from the normal format. For example, the format may be changed to acknowledge certain holidays, or to address some event that is affecting our community. At times, even national and international events (for example: wildfires, war, 9|11, etc.) affect us and it is good to take time to process together and to pray together.
The number that attend the Wednesday meetings varies anywhere from a dozen to several or more dozen. There are some that attend every Wednesday night, but most come from time to time as opportunity permits. So whether you attend regularly or occasionally, the Wednesday evening meetings may be advantageous for you.
